European Urology Today: June/July 2023

“Overall, Baltic23 was a great success, not only due to the excellent lectures and the opportunity to take part in hands-on training, but also because the meeting helps bolster the collaboration among the Baltic countries.” I had the pleasure to present my work on spectroscopical diagnostics of bladder cancer in bladder wash during Poster Session 3: Testicular & urothelial cancer, renal tumour, BLUTS and Trauma. The abstract won the 2nd prize in the Best Poster Presentation. In conclusion, we had a highly informative and lively event in Riga which was not only attractive for its scientific content but also for its discussions and experience-sharing that brought urologists from Baltic states and other European countries together.

Aside from the scientific endeavours, the socialising events added an element of camaraderie and relaxation to the meeting. Engaging in meaningful conversations, relishing luscious food, and participating in various activities further strengthened the bonds among colleagues. Excitement is already building for the next Baltic24 meeting in Tallinn, where we anticipate another enriching experience. Engaging meeting, rich with scientific content and experience-sharing

I had the opportunity to participate in Baltic23, which is probably the most important event in the region. The meeting was where urologists from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia shared their scientific work and experience. Moreover, we have had the EAU faculty as guests from who deliver lectures on important topics every year. Baltic23 included poster sessions; ESU course on flexible ureteroscopy and retrograde intrarenal surgery; and lectures from local urologists on topics such as focal therapies of urological cancers, urinary tract infections, and surgery technique. The pinnacle of the meeting was the Young Urologist Competition, where participants from each Baltic state presented their topics of interest to the jury.

EAU Lecture given by Dr. Michiel Sedelaar from Radboud- umc in Nijmegen (NL) on “New robots and AI: Where do we go from here”.
